Jurica Pavičić: Talking about the Mediterranean

Mediterranean has always been and still remains an inexhaustible source of inspiration for artists, writers, directors and musicians, as well as scientists and theorists from different areas. To each of them, the Mediterranean is an unfathomable secret, a space that is, at the same time, easy and hard to define, to put in a category and label. The tireless pen of Jurica Pavičić in its recent edition of the Book on the South, directly dissects and critically thinks about the Croatian and European south, i.e. Dalmatia, the Adriatic, and the Mediterranean. In this context, Pavičić deals with contemporary challenges in which the space and people of the Mediterranean meet; the rapid gentrification, industrial ruin, and uncontrolled tourism which gradually, but irreversibly change the image of the Mediterranean.
